First there was vibrating mascara now Bourjois have done it one step better with their new rotating mascara so most of the work is done for you! Another bonus is it contains conditioners to help your lashes grow. It promises to distrubute your mascara eveningly so there are no annoying clumps. I am dying to get my hands on this but will have to wait for a little longer as it doesnt hit the likes of Boots and Superdrug until May for around €16.99.

Katy Perry For OPI

They are famous for there collaborations with Hollywood e.x Shrek, Burlesque and there is even talks of a Justin Bieber collaboration in the future! But for now it's Katy Perry's turn to create a line of polishes for the OPI brand. I came across these the other day and what drew my attention to it was the brilliant nail art effect when you use them. (see above)

The idea is you choose from one of the colours from the collection available in "Last Friday Night", "Teenage Dream", "The One That Got Away" and Not Like the Movies" and apply the black "Shatter"over the top, wait a few seconds and it begins to crack creating a gorgeous shattered effect to your nail polish.

12 Week Blow dry Update!

It's been just over three months since I had the 12 week blow dry treatment in my hair and now sadly it has almost grown out. Below I have answered a few more questions that I did not cover in my previous post.

Did it actually last the full three months?

Around the two and a half month mark I did notice it starting to grow out from the top of my hair downwards and sections of dreaded static started to return. I followed the aftercare religiously and used nothing but sulfate free shampoo for the whole three months.

Did you have to wash your hair more often with this treatment?

I found that my hair needed to be washed more often then usual but obviously you can not wash it everyday even with the sulfate free shampoo as there is no way you will get the full three months out of the treatment is you do this. Also for the first month after you wash your hair you can still get the smell of the treatment coming from your hair. Once your hair is dry this disappers.

Will you have this treatment done again?

As I stated in my previous post I probably will have this treatment again and is it really helped tame the static and frizz in my hair. The downside is it can run expensive as it has to be done every 12 weeks so it may not suit everyone.

Review: Fake Bake Fair

During the winter months if you look overly tanned it can look really fake unless you've been on a foreign holiday somewhere! I like a small bit of colour during the winter so I decided to try out Fake Bake Fair Gradual Tanner. I have previously used Fake Bake Original but found it a bit dark for my Irish colouring and the biscuit smell isnt great either but having said that it went on non streaky and has a great colour guide so you can see what your doing.

How much is it?

I bought it in Debenhams for 38 euro and it comes with instructions and attractive purple gloves!

Is it easy to apply?

This is the bit that put me right off this gradual tanner. I have applied fake tan for years but this I could not get the hang of. The colour guide is a caramel colour as opposed to the dark chocolate colour of Fake Bake Original, which makes it hard to see where you have applied. It also dries quickly so unless you keep check you'll forget were you have applied and not applied. It take six hours to develop and there is not as much of a biscuit smell off the Fair.

What's the final colour like?

I really liked the final colour after I showered this off the next day. It was not too light, dark or orange, but again if you have had trouble applying you will have streaky bits.

Would you buy this again?

Unfortunately no which is a shame as the colour turned out really nice.

Review: 12 Week Blow Dry

During the week I had the 12 week blow dry a.k.a the Brazilian Blow Dry done. I wanted to wait until I had the treatment washed out of my hair before reviewing so here goes!

What is the 12 week blow dry & how long does it take?

It's a treatment for your hair which contains Keratin (naturally found in your hair and nails) so it's not damaging and claims to smooth and tame frizzy hair. It can take up to two hours depending on your hair type and thickness.

How long does it last?

Providing you use sulphate free shampoo and conditioner and don't over wash your hair it claims to last up to 12 weeks.

How much does this treatment cost?

Depending on where you live and where you go to have it done. In Dublin it can vary from 100 euro to 250 euro.

Can you use this on coloured hair?

My hair has never been coloured, but if your hair is coloured it is recommended you have your colour done 1-2 weeks before hand.

My experience:

I have pretty thick hair which I have thinned out every couple of week and just below my shoulders length hair. It is pretty curly and has it's fair amount of frizz! It took approx an hour and a half to have done on my hair. First my hair was washed and left to towel dry, next the treatment was applied to my hair like I was getting my hair coloured and blow-dried and straightend with a special straightener. The next bit is the hardest bit, for me anyway! For the next 48 hours you cant get your hair wet, put sunglasses on your head, tie back your hair or even put it behind your ears.

As the product has not been washed out of your hair for those 48 hours I would advise not to plan anything big during that time as your hair looks as if you need a good scrub with some shampoo! But the result? My hair felt really soft and was pretty straight apart from one or two layers that stuck out a little bit, but my GHD soon sorted that out! It's also in great condition. I was also able to dry my hair faster too! I have heard some stories about this not working on some peoples hair but I really like this treatment and since I paid 100 euro I figure it's not too bad for what you get especially if you have unrully hair like me it's a godsend! I cant tell you at the moment if it lasts 12 weeks as I've just had it done but will keep you updated!

How To Repair Your Eyes & Makeup When You've Been Crying

Have you been crying and you don't want anyone to know? If you have forgotten your makeup bag or just don't have time to reapply it follow these steps:

- If you have been wearing eye makeup it's probably halfway down your face by now! Grab some tissue and gently dab around your eye, don't rub as this will irritate your eye even more.

- Always carry Garnier's Caffeine Roll On (available from most chemists) in your purse for those emergency's. It contains caffeine which will help reduce puffiness around the eye. If you haven't got that handy eye drops are fine also.

- Grab some more tissue and dab this gently around your face to reduce any excess foundation that may have run while you have been crying.

- Last but not least, fan! Find anything that you can fan your eyes and face with anything will do a store loyalty card or your credit card. This will also help to bring down the redness in your eyes and face.

Finally! Youth As We Know It Review

I'm soooo sorry for the lack of updates recently! A couple of weeks ago I promised a review of the Youth As We Know It Cleanser and Toner by Bliss. So far I have only got my hands on the cleanser but if the cleanser is anything to go by the toner should be just as good. This range by Bliss can run up pretty expensive especially the serums etc but I say if you can only afford one thing from this range it's the cleanser. Ok getting down the the nitty gritty stuff, it claims to bind moisture to the skin,include a brightening complex and collagen and elastin protectors. It is advertised as a anti- ageing cleanser but In my opinion being 23 going on 24 it's never too early to start with the anti ageing products!

So did this live up to what it says on the bottle? Most definitely! My combination- dry skin has never been better, in fact I do not have one dry patch on my skin! I even notice if I get lazy (which you should never do!) my skin changes back to it's old flaky self! The one downside to this product is I'm not too fond of the smell but hey! if it improves my skin that much I don't really care. This product works best for dry to dry combiantion and mature skin types. It is available from Harvey Nichols and online stores such as HQ Hair and is 27 euro.

Make-up Brush Cleaner's

For those of you who don't know, if you use any type of make-up brush it is essential that they are cleaned monthly as that lovely clean face that you washed and toned and moisturised this morning is going to be covered in bacteria when you apply your make-up undoing everything you have just done! It also helps to extend the life of your brushes too which is a bonus!

A couple of months ago I wrote post on how to clean your make-up brushes with baby shampoo. It's great if you are on a budget but not good if you let water get into your brushes handles as this can loosen the glue that holds the handle and bristles together wrecking your expensive brushes. I only use this as a last resort if I am out of brush cleaner. Think of it as a good investment for your skin and your brushes!

How to clean your brushes:

- Take some kitchen roll or a face cloth
- Apply a small amount of brush cleaner to your brush and rub this back and forth gently on the tissue paper, making sure all make-up is removed.
- When your done re-shape your brush and leave to dry.

Review: Bliss Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask

Bliss is a famous spa in New York and London and about 3 years ago I heard great things about the triple oxygen face mask. If you live in the city like me your face will suffer from all the pollutants in the air especially when you have really dry or dehydrated skin. It smells very orangey and comes out like a gel which you rub into your face, and it starts to tingle on your skin (This drove me nuts at the start but I have gotten used to it now!) Leave it for 5-10 minutes until it has dissolved into your skin and that's it! Remove with warm water. Afterwards my skin was brighter and felt smoother, it also helped to rehydrate my skin. I discovered this in the back of my cupboard recently and I have no clue as to why I stopped using it but I will definitely be using it again!

Favourite Beauty Item For June

Each month I will give tell you what is my holy grail beauty item of the month. For June it is Freederm Gel. This stuff is brilliant and inexpensive. I don't tend to get many spots but when I do they can be annoying little things! It comes in a 10g tube which is small enough but you only need a pea size amount. Within two days of applying this once a day my spots had completely gone! I have used other spot treatments in the past but this in my opinion is the fastest and quickest way of getting rid of them.

Freederm is available from most Boots & Superdrug stores for approx 5 euro.

My Top 4 Summer Essentials!

Your on your way to the beach or pool on holiday and you dont wanna take a camping bag worth of beauty products with you but you need the essentials. me probably like you would find it kinda hard to pick just four but I had to control myself or else this post be text book length! :D These are beauty products I use during the summer... some I also use during the year.

This Leopard Print Bronzer by Too Faced is great for summer, the packaging is also gorgeous! It gives a real sun kissed look to any skin tone because it's not too dark. It also doubles up as a blusher!

Waterproof Mascara is a must for any girl that likes to swim during the summer. Nobody wants to look like a panda when they emerge from the water! Maybelline Colossal is a great for non-runny mascara and also adds great length and volume to your lashes. For those of you who do not like to wear mascara during the summer, clear mascara is also great and does not feel heavy on your eyes. It also keeps your eyebrows in shape!

Just like your face and your body, your hair needs protection from the sun or it could play havoc with your hair. Nobody wants a huge hair dressing bill when they return from their holidays to fix all those split ends! I have spoken about Mark Hill in a previous post and his products are brilliant for those of you on a budget. It doesn't feel heavy or sticky in your hair and is also small enough to fit into your bag.

I think everybody has a pot of Vaseline in their bag. But this one has been specially developed for you sun lovers with an SPF of 15. If you like me, do not like sun burned lips then try this!

Replace Your Foundation This Summer With Tinited Moisturiser

With the temperatures getting higher, foundation sliding off your face is not a good look! I personally don't like the feeling of foundation in hot weather so I decided to go on the hunt for something that will stay on my face, look natural but still cover anything I want covered, which led me to discover tinted moisturisers. The great thing about these are its a moisturiser and a light to medium foundation in one also most of them contain an SPF. There are loads out there but below are some of my picks.

Benefit You Rebel SPF 30 available in Light & Dark. It contains the highest SPF compared to the rest, so if you like wearing a high factor, this is for you!

This is the a great budget buy and is available for under 10 euro. It contains vitamin E and jojoba and U.V filters.

This tinted moisturizer by Laura Mercier is in the highest price range compared to the rest of the tinted moisturisers in this post. It is available in 6 shades and contains and SPF of 20.

Sheer Tint comes in 3 shades and contains an SPF of 15 and a antioxidant complex!

Laura Mercier & Benefit are both available at Brown Thomas. Clinique is available in Debenhams and bigger Boots stores. Nivea is also available from Boots and smaller chemists.

Urban Decay Primer Potion VS Too Faced Shadow Insurance

There has been a long standing debate when it comes to eyeshadow primer... Urban Decay Primer Potion or Too Faced Shadow Insurance? I have done a small breakdown to try and help you decide!

How much does each primer cost?

Urban Decay retails for 17 euro and Too Faced Shadow Insurance retails for 13 euro. Unfortunately neither company ships to Ireland but you can find them in bigger Boots stores and Debenhams and online at ASOS, Feel Unique, and Look Fantastic.

How much do you get for your money?

Shadow Insurance contains 12ml's while Primer Potion contains 10ml.

Is there any difference in application and appearance of eyeshadow?

A very slight difference!! When I applied the Shadow Insurance I found it slightly creamier and easy to blend onto my eyelid, the Primer Potion was slightly harder to blend onto my eye.

But when applying my eyeshadow the Primer Potion glided easier onto my eye, the Shadow Insurance needed a tiny bit more work. As you can see below the colour pay off is exactly the same. The colour I used was Knight Divine from MAC.

Which primer lasted the longest through out the day?

Surprisingly both lasted the exact same. My eyeshadow was still in place, no creasing and the colour had only faded a small amount and that was after 11 hours of wear.

Which one should I buy?

This is completely up to you! In my opinion the Primer Potion would be better for people with oily eyelids. Also Urban Decay has bought out a new bendy application brush to help you get more out of it as everyone remembers the pain stacking cutting of the old bottles, which is pretty handy! Too Faced Shadow Insurance comes in a squeezy tube making it a doddle to get the product out and you get 2ml's extra of product. Your best bet is ask the girls at the counters for samples and see which one suits you the best.

How to : Wax your legs

How long will it last?

You should usually be hair free for 4 weeks at a time, but if it's your first time having your legs waxed it might grow back faster as it takes about 4 waxes to get your hair on the growth cycle.

I've never waxed my legs before, how do I do it?

Your best bet is to buy a good quality wax such as Gigi. Personally I don't find those wax strips that you buy in the packets any good. When you buy a wax such as Gigi which you pop into the microwave for a few minutes, it's warm so it's going to open up the pores in your skin making the waxing part a doddle. You will also need waxing strips and spatulas, which you should find at any good beauty store.

- Heat your wax by the instructions on the packet in a microwave or a pot of boiling water.

- Check the temperature of the wax on your wrist first- burned legs are not a good look!

- Place the wax on your legs in thin strips in the direction of your hair growth.

- Place the waxing strip on top of the wax and rub it once or twice.

- Pull the wax strip off against your hair growth

Keep doing this until you have covered your entire leg and voila! your fuzz free!

How to: Fix A Broken Eyeshadow

You've just brought a brand new eyeshadow, taken it out of the package and then the nightmare happens, it falls and smashes! I know at this stage I usually burst into tears and say words which cannot be repeated here! I came across this idea when I was pressing pigments and this is basically the same idea to fix your eyeshadows, all you need is two items.

You will need:

A piece of kitchen paper
A coin big enough that fits the same size as your eyeshadow.

Note: This will not make your eyeshadow look perfect but it will look better and not spill everywhere!

Take your kitchen paper and wrap it in around the coin as tight as you can. Find a flat surface and place your eyeshadow on it. Take you coin in the tissue and press as hard as can onto the eyeshadow. If it doesn't stick together on your first try, then try again but press longer and harder this time. Voila! Your eyeshadow is use able again!

After reading Juicystar07's review of the Clinique 3 Step Skincare System I decided to give it a try. My skin type has changed recently so I used the handy feature that Clinique have on their website. They give you different questions such as Do you burn easily in the sun or do you tan? What is your eye colour? and What are your main skin concerns? After you answer all these questions you get your skin type. Mine was combination dry- Type 2. As my skin is sensitive I decided to go for Type 1 which is extra mild.

My first concern about the soap was that it was going to have that really soapy smell which I can not stand and it was going to dry out my skin! But with this I was presently surprised, it did'nt have a soapy smell to it, actually it did'nt really have any smell to it! The clarfying lotion did'nt irritate my skin as it contains no alcohol. A while ago I got a sample of the Step 3 lotion which irritated my skin, so it's really important to choose the right level for you. Depending on if you have oily skin or dry skin you will be given the lotion (dry skin) or the gel (oily skin). I found it gave my skin the extra moisture it needed without breaking me out or clogging my pores. Best of all it seems to be helping a break out that I had on my chin area!

I would recommend this for anyone who is looking for quick and easy skincare. It is a bit pricey but really does the job. I have heard it does wonders for people who have acne. You can buy it at any Clinique counter.

I have never been tempted to rant about Victoria Jackson makeup until now. Yesterday for what must be the fifth time this year I had a Victoria Jackson rep call to my front door trying to sell me their products. They claimed to be as good as other high end brands out there and even went as far as bad mouthing them. Their selling techniques are pushy and at times irritating ('Usually 250 euro but today for you its 30euro.. yeah right!') I don't know one person who hasn't had a meeting with a Victoria Jackson reps in supermarkets to post offices. One other thing is they claim that this makeup has been used by and used on celebrities. I couldn't seem to find any evidence to back this up. Until I see some I believe Victoria Jackson makeup and what they stand for is a load of swiss! If anyone out there would like to air a positive opinion on their makeup I would be more then happy to hear it!

I attended the Beauty Industry Trade Event today and got a free face mapping done by Dermalogica. I had heard of it before but never really knew what it was. Basically the Dermalogica girls wear these funny looking glasses and by looking and feeling your skin they determine the products that are perfect for your skin. Next they divide your skin up into 14 areas and each area of your face corresponds with a part of your body e.x no 12 corresponds with your ovaries etc so hence why most of us get the odd spot there during that time of the month etc. It really gives you an insight into your skin and how to figure out whats best for it. Dermalogica usually give skin mapping with any of their facials so all you have to do is look for a Beauty Salon that does their facials.

While shopping in Boots for some new shower gel I came across Imperial Leather Skin Bliss, I had used the standard Imperial Leather before and loved the amount of foam you could make out of a pea sized amount of shower gel! So I decided to give this a go as it promised to elimante the need for any lotion after showering which if we are all honest is the bit we hate most! It definatley lived up to its promises, when I got out of the shower I didnt need to apply any moisturizer and my skin was really soft for the rest of the day! If someone told me they were taking all my Beauty Products away and I could only pick five things. After picking myself off the floor in shock, these are the five Beauty products/items I couldn't live without:

1. MAC Wipes

I have used alot of facial wipes including baby wipes which irritated and dried out my skin, but MAC wipes take all my makeup off even the hard stuff such as waterproof mascara and leaves my skin soft and clean! Of course they dont subtitute for cleansing but great for those days you cant be bothered!

2. TIGI Bedhead Treat Me Right Hair Mask

This is great stuff. It really makes my hair feel soft and shiny. It lasts for ages and the peppermint smell is gorgeous!

3. Urban Decay 24/7 Liner In Zero

I love all the Urban Decay 24/7 Liners but if I had to pick one it would be Zero. First off black goes with most colours but also the wear on this eyeliner last all day, its also soft and creamy to apply and doesn't drag on your eye.

4. GHD Flat Iron

I adore this flat iron! Its really easy to use, heats up in approx 10 seconds and leaves your hair straight and smooth, its especially great for thick hair like mine. It also doubles up as a curling iron too.

4. Agent Provocateur Maitresse Perfume

I first discovered this perfume on a trip to New York for my 21st Birthday (I'm 23 today - Happy Birthday to me! lol) and they were spraying samples of this and the original perfume which I didn't like to much as I thought it smelt like Baby Powder. I loved the scent from this, its girly and sexy at the same time. I usually get bored of perfume smells after a couple of months but I haven't got bored of this one. Its defiantly my HG perfume!

5. Vaseline

Last but defiantly not least is good 'aul Vaseline. Its been around for years and I have always had a tin in nearly every bag I own! Its cheap and cheerful and great for chapped lips, and its also great for dry skin (maybe not the rosy lips version unless you like pink skin!) But I do love the new rosy lips edition, it gives a gorgeous sheen to your lips!

Lovin: MAC Cleanse Off Oil

After hearing all the buzz around cleansing oils I decided to try it out for myself . I had first heard about them on various beauty blogs and everybody was raving about how good they were. I was really wary at first as I had visions of me breaking out all over the place and it would turn out to be a horrible mess. Curiosity got the better of me and I tried to purchase the Shu Uemura oil in Brown Thomas (an upmarket store here in Ireland) but do my despair they dont stock it anymore. So I hotfooted it over to MAC to who to my delight had one left in stock (yey!)

I rushed home to try it and fell in love.

The bottle itself is 150mls for 23 euro, 15 dollars in the States and £15 in the UK. It comes with a handy little pump so you can control the distribution of the oil and the consisteny is like the olive oil that you'd find in your kitchen cupboard, but contains no mineral oil which can be bad for your skin. You massage this on to your face when its dry and it tells you to rinse with warm water. A few reviews have stated that they found the oil doesnt really come off too well when you rinse with water, so what I like to do is use a cotton pad to take it off my face then rinse with warm water. The general beauty rule is to clean your face twice (once to take your makeup off and once to actually clean your face) but to be honest I find you really dont need to.. it will take off stuff you didnt even know you had on your face! It also leaves your skin feeling so soft with no reisdue.

If your more of a soap and bubbles type of girl this probably wont suit you as there is no soap and no bubbles! But if you dont mind either way and are looking for something that really cleans your face but doesnt strip it then this is for you!

Rating: 10/10

Would I buy this again? Yes!

Most parts of your body can be pierced but each can take different lengths of time to heal.

Healing Times:

Ear Lobe: 6- 8 weeks

Monroe: 8 - 10 weeks

Nose Piercing: 4-8 weeks

Tounge Piercing: 6- 10 weeks

Eyebrow Piercing: 4- 6 weeks

Cartilage: 6- 12 months

Aftercare:

The most standard aftercare for body piercings is non iodized sea salt. This should be mixed with sterile warm water in a shot glass or mug (1/8 sea salt to 8oz water) This should be placed over your piercing for 5-10 minutes once or twice a day for the entire healing period. Antibacterial soap should also be used when taking a shower.

For oral piercings a non alcholic mouthwash should be used and your mouth should be washed after eating and smoking.

I love LUSH its definitely one of my favourite skin brands. As some of their items can be a tad on the expensive side I use it when I want to give my skin a treat. Irish Moss, Almond Oil, Chamomile Oil and Sweet Orange Oil. The texture is also really thick and mushy which I like. I applied it to my face and left to it dry for 10 minutes.

I then rinsed with warm water, be warned it can be pretty messy! I was pretty impressed with the results. My skin felt refreshed and smooth, my pores looked reduced and alot of the visible redness had gone. I really do love this product but a con to this product is that the ingredients are super fresh and it expires after a month. This means it must be refrigerated, but I think its now my HG face mask from LUSH!

What is exfoliation?

Exfoliation is the process of removing dead skin from your face. It unclogs your pores, helps prevents spots, and makes your skin look healthier and brighter.

What is the best type of exfoliater to buy?

You should try and buy an Exfoliater that doest contain to many grubby bits. By this I mean anything with harsh stones such as apricot. These can make tiny little grazes in your skin which can lead to wrinkles. My personal favourite is Neutrogena Deep Clean Scrub.

How do I exfoliate?

One option is to steam your face before you exfoliate as this helps to open your pores to allow for deeper exfoliation , but if you haven't got time to do this apply warm water to your face. Apply a small amount of exfoliater to your hands and apply to your face in circular motions. Do this gently as abrasive scrubbing does more harm then good to your skin. Rinse with warm water, dry your face then carry on with your usual skincare regime.

How often should I exfoliate?

For oily skin you should exfoliate twice a week but for dry skin once a week is fine.

Prime your eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion to make the colour on your eyes pop!

Apply a white/cream eyeshadow such as Bobbi Browns 'Bone' eyeshadow all over your eye using an all over eyeshadow brush. Blend this up into your brow bone.

Next apply a silver eyeshadow such as MAC's 'Silver Ring' across your lid and build this to the effect you like. Blend any harsh lines with a fluffy blending brush.

Apply a dark brown eyeshadow such as Urban Decay's 'Roach' to your crease using a densely packed blending brush and apply it in a backwards, forwards motion on your crease bone.

Use your fluffy blending brush to again blend out any harsh lines.

Apply black eyeliner and mascara to your lower and upper lids.

I came across this great little beauty gadget while surfing the Internet one day. Its called the Dermaroller. It contains small needles which when rolled on to your skin penetrates your epidermis and dermis layer of skin. This may sound painful but when using the smaller needles (0.25mm) its more of a tickiling sensation. It stimulates collegen and allows better absoroption of your daily creams. 'Relax and Wax' cream also known as 'No Scream Cream' (I love that name!) contains Benzocaine which is an external analgesic which temporarily 'prevents and relieves pain'. How To Apply Foundation

There are alot of choices out there when it comes to foundation- Mineral, Liquid, Powder and Cream. This can be confusing for beginners. The next choice is what is my colour? How to avoid my neck and face looking two different colours? How do I stop myself from looking orange?

Follow the guide below to your perfect foundation.

1. If you havent got a clue what colour you are your best bet is the ask the people at the Beauty counter. They are trained in finding out what colour suits you best. If you dont want to do this apply a few different colours to the bone where your face ends and your neck begins and choose the colour you think suits you best.

2. Be realistic with yourself! If you are naturally pale go for a paler colour, not a colour two shades too dark for you to make you look more tanned as this will look ridiculous! The same is said if you are of a darker skin tone.

3. Next is what type of foundation do you choose? Liquid Foundation is better for younger skin types and people with dry skin. Powder Foundation suits people with oily skin and Mineral is great for mature skin types or people who prefer a lighter foundation.

4. When your applying your foundation you need to start with a clean canvas. Clean your face and apply your normal moisturizer. This is an important step as your foundation will cling to any dry areas on your face. If your skin is oily you can use blotting paper to get rid of any excess oil before applying foundation. Quick Tip: If you have oily skin its better for you to choose a oil free foundation that wont clog your pores.

5. This next step is optional but will make your foundation last longer. Apply a silicone based foundation primer. This will give a matte finish to your skin and make it feel like silk! Examples of these are Smashbox, Gosh or MAC.

6. To apply your foundation you can use your fingers or a brush. There are many type of foundation brushes but the two most common are The Round Paddle foundation brush and the Stippler foundation brush. When using Liquid or Cream foundation you can use either brush. But when using Cream or Powder foundation the Stippler Brush or a similar brrush should be used.

7. When using liquid or cream foundation apply your foundation to your hand. This warms up your foundation. When using powder or mineral this can be applied straight from the container. The no.1 rule when applying foundation is less is more. You can always add more if needed but if too much is applied then you will have to restart.

8. If using your fingers to apply you liquid foundation use circular motions to apply it to your face blending into your neck line. The same applies if you are using a stippler brush use this to 'buff' the foundation into your skin as if you were applying setting powder. This method is also used with your mineral and powder foundation. When using a rounded paddle brush the best method to use is if you are painting a picture. This may seem weird to some people but its your best bet! Use small short strokes to 'paint your face' blending it into your neck line.

9. To set your foundation apply a setting powder or an invisible setting powder all over your face. This also helps your foundation to last throughout the day.

10. The last option is also optional is to use a facial spray such as Fix+ by MAC. This gives your foundation a less cakey and powedery look.

Before buying this mascara I had never bought anything from Max Factor but I decided to give it a go. In the shop I 'oohed' and 'ahhed' at the brush wand that comes with this mascara it has to be one of the biggest that I have seen on a mascara!

The packaging is small enough for you to take in your handbag which is always a plus! I got home and was dying the try this and I was not disappointed! The brush coats every lash in one stroke and adds great volume to my lashes. I wouldnt go as far as to say it looks like I'm wearing false lashes but it does give great length and volume to my lashes. The secret to this is the Liquid Last technology. I bought the waterproof version which lasted all day and didnt smudge. Compared to alot of other more expensive mascaras on the market I think this stands up there with them but at a cheaper price!

Homemade Face Mask Recipes

Homemade face masks are great for your skin. They contain alot less ingredients then store bought masks and are great for people who prefer a more natural approach to beauty. It also inexpensive as alot of the products can be found in your kitchen cupboard.

Dry Skin

Mask 1 - Milk and Honey

Mix two tablespoons of honey with two teaspoons of mik. Smooth on your face and neck and over your throat. Leave for 15mins and rinse with warm water.

Mask 2- Banana and Almond Oil

Peel one Banana and mash in a bowl. Add one tablespoon of Almond Oil and stir until smooth. Smooth over your face and neck. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

(These masks can also be used for normal skin)

Oily Skin

Mask 1 - Aspirin, Honey and Lemon Juice

Take one/two non coated aspirin tablet into a bowl. Add one tablespoon of Honey and one teaspoon of lemon juice and stir until a smooth paste is made. Smooth over your face and neck. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Mask 2- Calamine Powder, Fullers Earth Powder and Witch Hazel

Mix one tablespoon of Calamine Powder and Fullers Earth Powder (Both can be found at Health Food or Beauty Supply Shops) and mix in one tablespoon of Witch Hazel or however much it takes to make into a smooth paste. Smooth over your face and neck .Leave for 15 minutes or until the paste dries. Rinse with warm water.

Sensitive Skin/Skin Prone to Redness

Calamine Powder, Magnesium Carbonate Powder and Rose Water

Mix one tablespoon of Calamine Powder and Magnesium Carbonate Powder into a bowl. Add a half teaspoon of Rose Water. Mix until smooth. Apply to face and neck. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

Mature Skin

Mask 1- Honey Mask

Smooth Natural Honey all over your face. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Mask 2- Oatmeal, Honey and Rose Oil

Mix the Oatmeal and Honey in a bowl until smooth. Add 1 tablespoon of Rose Oil and mix. Smooth this all over your face. Leave for 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Its also a good idea to exfoliate before using face masks as this opens up the pores and prepares your skin for the face mask.

Exfoliator

Take 3 tablespoons of Brown Sugar mix with 3 teaspoons of water. Apply to your face in circular motions but never scrub to hard! Rinse with warm water.

How To Do An At Home Manicure

What you will need:

Hand Scrub (If you dont have this body exfoliator is fine)
Hand Cream (An anti aging one if possible)
A Bowl
A Hand Towel
Nail Buffer
Nail File
Hoof Stick
Base Coat

Optional:

Baby Pink Nail Varnish
White Nail Varnish
Top Coat

Firstly wet your hands in the bowl of water. Apply hand scrub and massage it into your hands. Next rinse this off and dry your hands with a hand towel. Take your hoof stick and push your cuticles back with the top of the hoof stick, never do this when your hands are dry as it can be painful!

Apply your chosen hand cream. Take the nail file and begin to file your nails. The technique I like to use is file once to the left of my nail, once to the right and once across the top as I like a square looks to my (fake!) nails. If you like a more rounded effect use your file in a rounded motion on the top of your nail.

Next buff your nails with the buffer from left to right until they begin to shine. Apply your base coat and let this dry.

The next part is optional if you would like to give yourself a French manicure. Apply a baby pink coat of nail varnish to your nails let this dry. Next following the round of the white of your nail apply your white nail varnish. Let this dry. Finally apply your top coat and your done!

How To Spot Fake MAC

In the past few years alot of fake MAC has been popping up around the internet on sites like Ebay and Ecrater.

To someone who doesnt know MAC that well they think they are grabbing a bargin but they are really being scammed. So for those who are not in the know when it comes to buying MAC I have created a guide to help you out!

Eyeshadows

FAKE

The first way that you can spot fake MAC eyeshadows is that the fake eyeshadows come with a sponge applicator and to anyone who knows their MAC this is a fake! MAC have never released anything that comes with a sponge applicator!

As you can see in the picture on the right the bottom compartment lifts up and in the real eyeshadow on the left it is glued together. This is a definate way to spot fake eyeshadows.

The last way to spot fake eyeshadows is to look at the sticker on the base of the eyeshadow. MAC always names their eyeshadows e.x 'Smut' 'Trax'. The fake eyeshadows usually have numbers on their base, (this is also the same with pigments) if you see this dont buy it!

On sites like ebay etc it can be hard to spot as you can not see the base of the eyeshadow. If the seller is selling the 20 eyeshadows at a time like below it usually is fake (also the same for pigments) Also note the MAC palette below I have seen alot of these on ebay with alot of people bidding and they are definitely FAKE!

Brushes

The first way to spot fake Brushes is if they come in a brush roll as seen above then they are definitely fake. MAC has never released brushes that come in a brush roll. Also if they are really cheap e.x the price of one MAC brush then they are definatley fake.

MAC brushes also have a small stamp on the base of the brush saying either 'Japan' or 'France' if your brush doesnt have this then its a fake!

Your best bet when buying MAC is to go to an actual MAC store this will save you money in the long run and you will be paying for better quality makeup!

Review: Amazing Cosmetics Concealer

I got a sample of this concealer with a swap from MUA. At that time I hadnt yet discovered YSL so I was on the look out for a really good concealer.

The name 'Amazing Cosmetics' attracted me to try this product straight away, unfortunately for me this wasnt so amazing!

The consistency to this product is very watery but goes on like clay. I only used a small amount but found this really hard to blend.

The colour was also bad, I am an NW20 and the sample colour was light but it didnt match my skin tone at all and it was too orange for me.

I wanted to like this product but what you get for the price I think I'll be sticking to my Touche Eclat!

I came across this site when watching one of the Beauty Gurus on YouTube and I love it. The idea is you build up a swap list of items you would like to swap and then a wishlist of items that you wish to swap for. Members contact each other and swapping takes place.

The downside to this site is that new members usually have to send their items first which can lead to them be 'swaplifted' but savvy swappers should always swap with members with a high number of tokens.

But on the up side you can get items you might not be able to usually afford and its good fun!

Cheap Eye Makeup Remover!

Money being tight for people these days multi use products are always great! I use Johnsons Baby Shampoo to clean my makeup brushes when I dont have my MAC brush cleaner handy, but one day last week I was out of eye makeup remover so decided to try some baby shampoo.

I didnt expect much as I had alot of eye makeup on that day (eyeliner, eyeshadow and mascara) but with one sweep of this stuff diluted in water (two drops of shampoo to 3tsp of water) nearly every trace of my eye makeup was removed!

This is great for anyone on a budget that cant afford high end eye cleansers! It is available at most chemists and drugstores.

If you havent heard of this cult beauty favourite by YSL then you must have been living under a rock!

A must have for any beauty babes makeup bag! I have probably tried nearly every concealer under the sun to cover my dark circles (which I have to admit are pretty bad!) and this seems to be the only product that works for me.It also doubles as highlighter for your face and transforms the most sunken skin type into a glowing masterpiece!

And its handy enough to fit in your handbag.Although it is pricey, in my opinion its worth it as it can totally transform the look of your face. It can be found as most big beauty stores. Go and grab one now!

Simple Guide To Fake Tanning

With reports in the media everyday about the dangers of the sun, more and more women are turning to fake tanning as a safer alternative.

But for beginners this can be a daunting task as one wrong move and you could end up looking like a oompa lumpa rather then a bronzed goddess!

But fear not! Follow these easy steps to bronzed skin:

Shave or wax a couple of hours before tanning. This allows the skin to settle before exfoliating.
After a couple of hours hop into the shower and I can not stress this enough exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! This is the no.1 trick to a streak free tan. Pay particular attention to your elbows, knees, hands, and feet. Quick Tip: Try and use an oil free exfoliater.
Apply your moisturising cream all over your body and again pay particular attention to your elbows, knees, hands and feet. Quick Tip: Rub moisture lotion into skin to avoid any lumps or collection of cream on your skin.
Wait a few minutes for your mositurizer to sink and then start applying your fake tan.
The best fake tan to use is one with a colour guide to help you see what you are doing. Quick Tip: Use gloves or a mitt to avoid those giveaway 'tan palms'
Using short storkes apply the fake tan to your skin and rub it in making sure you havent missed any areas. Quick Tip: Use a tanning mitt to when you have finished tanning to even out patchy areas.
Fake tans do come off on your clothes as they dry so wear something old and loose fitting.
Most fake tans develop within 2-4 hours but if you have time your best bet is to do it at night and go to bed as this gives the tan a chance a better chance to develop.
The next morning hop into the shower and wash the colour guide off.
Moisturize every day or every second day to avoid patchy areas.
